What is a Dental Implant?
A dental implant is a titanium post that is placed in the jaw to act as a replacement root for a missing tooth. After the implant is placed, the jawbone surrounding the implant integrates (fuses) with the implant and firmly anchors the implant in place. The integrated implant is then as strong as a natural tooth root.
Implants are used to support individual crowns, dental bridges or full-arch replacement teeth. Implant-supported restorations generally provide excellent chewing power that is close to or equal to that of natural teeth.

Replacing a Single Tooth
We offer two main options for replacing a single missing tooth:
Dental implant-supported crown
We make our crowns out of top-quality porcelain and have them custom-fabricated in a premier dental lab.
Our crowns are designed so they fit in perfectly with your adjacent teeth. Your replacement tooth will look totally natural and provide the same biting and chewing power as a natural tooth. Implant-supported dental crowns can be brushed and flossed just like regular teeth.
Dental bridge
Dental bridges on natural teeth have been the traditional solution for replacing a missing tooth, and our doctors create and place bridges with the same attention to detail as they do individual crowns.
Bridges compared to a single tooth implant have an important drawback if healthy natural teeth on either side of the missing tooth have to be somewhat shaved down for the bridge to be placed. This could compromise the adjacent teeth. If one of the bridge teeth develops a problem, the entire restoration of three or more teeth would have to be redone compared to a single implant crown.
However, there are certain situations in which a bridge might provide a more aesthetic or more practical solution than an implant. In our practice, both individual implants and bridges can last a long time thanks to our doctors’ high degree of technical expertise and as long as they are properly cared for. Replacing Multiple Teeth
We have numerous options for replacing multiple missing teeth, and dental-implant-supported restorations are by far the most preferred for their strength, chewing power and durability.
Implant-supported bridge
When replacing several teeth in a row, our doctors can place a bridge supported by two or more implants. Implant-supported bridges are very stable and provide close to full chewing power.
Our doctors make bridges that are both durable and natural-looking, taking great care with the design of the details so that your replacement teeth will blend in perfectly with the rest of your teeth.
Multiple individual implants
When replacing several teeth missing in a row, you can also opt for individual implants and crowns for each missing tooth. Some patients prefer this, as it allows for flossing between the teeth and is in all respects the most like having natural teeth.
Dental bridge
Although our doctors usually recommend dental-implant-supported bridges for replacing several teeth in a row, a traditional bridge may also be a good option in certain cases—such as when the adjacent teeth are already compromised and in need of dental crowns.
Partial denture
The most economical option for multiple missing teeth is a partial denture. Dr. Bergmann makes excellent dentures that fit well and look natural. However, the chewing power of a complete denture is only a small fraction of that of an implant-supported restoration. Partial dentures do not prevent bone loss like implant-supported options do, unless they are fully supported by the remaining teeth.
Replacing All Your Teeth

Implant-supported, fixed-in new teeth in a day
The strongest option for replacing all your teeth is an implant-supported, permanently fixed-in, full-arch set of teeth. Doctor uses his special expertise as a prosthodontist (a dental specialist in the design and fabrication of dental restorations) to make fixed-in teeth that are extremely strong, durable and completely natural-looking.
Doctor can craft your teeth out of lifelike porcelain such as zirconia, a very strong and durable porcelain that is among the latest advances in dentistry. Depending on your preferences and budget, he can also use other options, such as acrylic over a metal framework. Implant-supported teeth can be made with an artificial gumline if needed, covering any depressions or irregularities in your natural gumline due to bone loss and thus enhancing your smile.
Your new teeth will be permanently fixed onto your implants and cannot be removed except by a dentist. They will provide nearly full chewing power and allow you to eat the foods you want. You will be able to smile with renewed confidence. Implant-retained removable denture
